Samuel Smith’s revived the once popular style of "Oatmeal Stout" back in the 1980's. Oatmeal stout had been popular after World War 2 partly because they were regarded as a "Nutritional" drink. The style declined in the 60's and 70's until it was revived by Samuel Smith’s in the 80’s along with their "Famous" Taddy Porter and an Imperial Stout.
Tasting Notes:
Great solid dark brown colour with a good head and nice lacing. Scents of chocolate and caramel. Rich chocolate flavour as well as coffee and raisin. Great long finish with a slight bitter finish. Great beer!
