Greene King IPA is not an IPA by style guidelines, its a Bitter. A good one at that though. The fresh hoppy taste comes from using two different types of hops - Challenger and English First Gold. Combined with pale and crystal malts this makes it a perfectly balanced, refreshing beer. It has been brewed for over 100 years on the same site, and retains the same traits as it did 100 years ago. It is a great beer to compliment spicy foods, or just as a session ale for a lazy day. The beer pours a clear amber colour with a beige large bubbled head. Aroma of malt (toffee) with a touch of grassy hops as it warms. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Very clean taste - sweet malts in the start and a slightly fruity dry finish. Some hop flavour follows behind in the aftertaste. - Anthony
