Samuel Smith’s revived the once popular style of "Oatmeal Stout" back in the 1980's. Oatmeal stout had been popular after World War 2 partly because they were regarded as a "Nutritional" drink. The style declined in the 60's and 70's until it was revived by Samuel Smith’s in the 80’s along with their "Famous" Taddy Porter and an Imperial Stout. Great solid dark brown colour with a good head and nice lacing. Scents of chocolate and caramel. Rich chocolate flavour as well as coffee and raisin. Great long finish with a slight bitter finish. Great beer!
