Product Description:

The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with massive taste. Black Damnation is a blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This is the first of the series.

50% of Black Albert was used with another 50% of H & V.

Black coloured beer with just a sliver of a dark tan head. Aroma is glorious & full of coffee, brown sugar, dark fruity chocolate. Flavours of H&V are quite evident, charcoal and mineral notes, chocolate, cocoa powder. Good coffee chocolate finish with good balancing bitterness and hops & sugar in the after taste.

Tasting Notes:

Poured in a fairly poorly lit room. It appears jet black, with a slight red tinge around the edges. Initial head is thick, brown, creamy as hell, and has great retention for about 5-10 minutes. The aroma of this beer is intriguing; a lot less powerful than I had expected, but it has all the hallmarks of a well made imperial stout. Rich fruity aromas, dark fruits such as plums, cherries and raisins, vanilla, spices and lots of alcohol on the nose. The flavour is spectacular; lots of belgian candy fruit and thick molasses, with a good level of roasted malt late in the finish, and a very modest bitterness, all in perfect balance. Licorice is also abundant, as promised, and some very mild coffee notes. The beer could possibly benefit from a little more hop intensity. The alchohol is very prevalent in the aroma, but should settle with a bit of ageing. A surprisingly mellow, and manageably sweet imperial stout. Extremely enjoyable.

Domain Dupont Pommeau de Normandie 700ml

A17% ABV blend of one-year-old calvados, and mout, apple juice that has fermented to around 1% ABV. After being carefully blended in oak casks, Pommeau is transferred to 4-5 year old 400L oak casks, where it is carefully matured for at least 30 months. Perhaps Dupont’s greatest creation, Pommeau displays amazing complexities of vanilla, crystallised apples, prunes and toasted hazelnuts. Absolutely amazing.
